It’s time to don your dirndl or lederhosen and celebrate Oktoberfest with GNN! Our Gourmet Club is gathering on September 20th for a German‑themed potluck. Karin Fry will be our gracious host, and we’re looking forward to an afternoon of hearty food, good friends and plenty of gemütlichkeit (warmth and good cheer).

What to bring: choose a recipe from one of these cookbooks and make enough for 40 samplings of your dish:

  • A Taste of Germany – a collection that brings the flavors of Germany to your table with dishes ranging from beef rouladen and sauerbraten to pork schnitzel, bratwurst, beer‑grilled chicken, cod in mustard cream sauce, and desserts like apple strudel and Bethmännchen cookies thriftbooks.com.

  • Modern German Cookbook by Michelin‑starred chef Frank Rosin – 100 recipes that put a modern twist on classic German favorites, from asparagus soup, schnitzel and baked apples to the Rosin family’s own sauerbraten dk.com. Rosin shares professional techniques and culinary secrets to elevate any dish dk.com. (Also at Greenwich Library)

  • Cooking the German Way (Easy Menu Ethnic Cookbooks) – this book introduces Germany’s history, land and food and includes recipes for potato dumplings, noodle salad and Black Forest torte Amazon Books. (Also at Greenwich Library)

German beer and wine will be flowing, and you’re welcome to bring your own beverage if you have a particular German spirit you’d like to share. Our Gourmet Club’s mission is to foster a love of food and cooking, provide opportunities for culinary exploration, and build community—so let’s make this Oktoberfest a feast to remember!

RSVP: Please register by September 13th so we can set our tables accordingly. Use the club’s event page to sign up:

We can’t wait to raise our steins with you. Prost!
